Maths No Problem

When completing Maths No Problem work, please don’t feel the need to print off the online workbook.. These can easily be completed on paper.

Here’s what you can do instead of printing off:

- Have your child verbally answer the questions with you.

- Talk through the questions together. (You might be surprised at how much you learn!)

- Copy the workbook pages onto paper and answer. (See the examples below)

- Number the questions and answer. (See the example below)

I hope this helps with your mathematics home learning. Please use contactclasses@newinf.cumbria.sch.uk with any questions, issues or comments and I will respond as quickly as possible.

Thank you for all the work you’re doing with your child’s learning.

Summer 1

Our summer 1 topic would have been 'How Does Your Garden Grow?' We would have been identifying and naming a variety of wild and garden plants, including evergreen and deciduous trees. We would also be naming different parts of plants and trees.

Our KIRF (maths target) is to learn doubles of numbers (up to double 10) and halves of numbers (biggest being half of 20).  When we are back at school, you can show this off to an adult!

Suggested activities for home:

  • Start a weather diary - record the weather each morning. Is it sunny, raining, windy, cloudy, sunny AND cloudy? You could draw a symbol to represent each type of weather.
  • If you have a garden or are on your daily exercise - what different plants and trees can you see? Can you find out what they are called? Can you see any deciduous or evergreen trees?
  • Draw a picture of a tree and label it (can you label the roots, trunk, leaves and crown?)
  • Draw a picture of a flower and label it (can you label the roots, stem, leaf and flower?)
  • Sketch a picture of a tree - can you use darker/lighter shading?
  • R.E - Can you research the Hindu creation story? Can you write the story and draw some pictures?
  • R.E - Can you research the Christian creation story? Can you write the story and draw some pictures?

You could send us photos of your work or anything else that you have been doing to contactclasses@newinf.cumbria.sch.uk - we would love to see what you have all been getting up to!
