Welcome to the Year 1 Class Page
Below you will find all you need for your home learning.
Please remember if you are using Teams and joining a live link it is really helpful if your child's name is on the screen so their teacher can accept them into the lesson.
There are new links for phonics, maths and show & tell ready for learning to begin from 22nd February 2021.
**PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGES FOR MOST SESSIONS AND LOOK OUT FOR AN EMAIL FROM SCHOOL INFORMING YOU OF YOUR CHILDS NEW PHONICS GROUP**
Self-Portrait Challenge
Next week there is a video to help everyone draw a self portrait. The video creates the basic person shown below and then you add your own details to make it look like you. The Year 1 team have all done one to inspire you. We can't wait to see your portraits by email on contactY1@newinf.cumbria.sch.uk
Phonics Daily Speed sounds
Please note that following Mrs Willows' assessment your child may have changed colour group. Their phonics group matches the colour of the phonics reading books in their home learning pack.
The daily speed sounds may be repeats of what your child has learnt before. The sounds chosen reflect what most children in the colour group needed to practise again from the information provided in the assessments.
Top Spelling Tips
The boys and girls have really enjoyed practising their spellings this week. Each Monday, the new spellings are handed out in their spelling books and they can practise these at home on any available paper you have. Here are some ideas on what to do.
#1 Rainbow writing
Get out your crayons, colouring pencils or felt pens and copy them out with as many colours as you can! Write them different sizes for extra effect.
On On On On On On On
It's simple and the children really enjoy it!
#2 Laser lock camera
Write the word out for them. They look really hard (laser lock), take a picture in their mind and close their eyes. Ask them if they can see the word with their eyes closed. Ask them to repeat until they can picture the word. When they think they are ready, get them to write it without copying.
