Starting School - Admissions

At Newlaithes Nursery & Infant School we have two reception classes and can therefore admit up to 60 children each year. Details of how places are allocated can be found here.

Under normal circumstances we have an open door policy and would currently be offering visits to school for prospective parents to have a look round and ask us any questions you may have. Unfortunately, under Covid restrictions we are unable to offer visits to school this year.

We have made a video, accessed here, along with some FAQs. Mrs Willows, Headteacher, Mr Wilkinson, Deputy Head or Mrs Nicholls, School Business Manager, are also happy to talk to you over the telephone if you have any specific questions on 01228 525756.

Cumbria Local Authority decides our admissions. Admissions Team members are always happy to advise parents and carers about applying for school places. You can contact them on 01228 221582. They can also advise you about being placed on our waiting list for places if none are available in your child's year group.

The deadline for applying for a school place for September 2021 is 15th January 2021. Information about applying can be found by following this link. Last year some children outside catchment were allocated places. Our catchment area map is below.

Information about appealing for a school place should you be unsuccessful is available here.

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our catchment area and the Local Authority admission arrangements below. Further details are also available in our prospectus (above).
